Handyman Exterior Painting – Garage and Woodwork

This particular job was an outside task so you never know if the weather will good until the day comes – fortunately on this occasion we picked the best week in May 201 – as always we introduce our Handyman team to the client in advance of starting the work and load the tools we need in the van ready to start work promptly.

Priming Work Areas for Paint and Varnish

We start with the preperation work as on every task as this is one of the most important parts of painting and decorating. Continuing with the prep work we sanded down all the windows/doors and garage doors, filling anywhere that needed it with a quality 2-part wood filler.

We also used primer on all areas where we had sanded that has gone down to wood so that the paint adheres successfuly and provides the perfect surface to apply surface coatings. Following on from the preperatiob work we dusted down everything that has been sanded and give it a wipe down with a wet cloth to ensure that we don’t get any dust or bits in the paint when we start the painting.

Surface Coating 5 Year Guarantee

Perfect Colours Decorating gave all the windows and doors 1 coat of Johnstones opaque paint. Johnstones opaque paint comes with a 5-year guarantee. After the first coat is dry we then look over it to see if it need any more filler in place and if it need a sand in any places following on from that we will go on to give it a second coat and that would be its final coat.

On occasions when you check the final coat you may see something that needs an extra little attention and in some cases we will give a window or door 3 coats of paint to ensure the job is to a high standard – and that’s exactly what Perfect Colours Decorating are proud of.
