Our client this month found us on the Trustred Trader website. Broughton Ceiling Coving and Wallpaper Removal

We at Perfect Colours Decorating cover many different parts of decorating and this job covers lots of scope.

Painting Skirting Boards, Toilet and Bathroom

On this job we had a little toilet to plaster and paint, an entrance hall to plaster and paint, the front room to plaster with new skirting and covings fitted and painted. There was also a dining room plus stairs and landing to plaster with new skirting, coving and paint.

Planning the Project – First Things First

We started in the front room as we needed to remove/strip all the wallpaper off and remove the old coving and skirting so that the plasterer could get started with plastering of the ceiling.

Following this, the walls with the 2 ceilings in the entrance hall and the toilet had wallaper removed together with the coving and skirting boards.

Timing is important when planning a milti-room project – so we can start by putting up the new coving and the new skirting ready for us to paint as the plasterer was plastering we started to remove/strip the wallpaper in the dining room, stairs and landing removing the old coving and the old skirting. All of this meant that when the plasterer was complete he could move on to the next room at the same time as trying to give it time to dry over a weekend. This is important to ensure a dry surface to work with.

Ceilings and Front Room Painting and Plastering

The plasterer finished the 2 ceilings and the front room on a Thursday, so we gave it 3 days over the weekend to dry adequately. This meant when Monday came round, the plasterer began by plastering the ceilings and walls in the dining room stairs and landing which took him 4 days – which was the same as the front room and ceilings. We were pleased how our planning had come to fruition.

This ensured by the 2nd Monday we had fitted the new coving and the new skirting on in the front room so that come Tuesday we were all ready for painting.

Perfect Colours Decorating had all the front room and entrance hall and little toilet painted by the Friday, this was mist coat new plaster, then paint two coats on the ceiling with white emulsion. Following this we applied 2 coats of magnolia emulsion to the walls, then undercoat and satin the woodwork that’s skirting doors and door frames.

Radiators Removed for the Perfect Finish

We also had the radiators removed for the plaster and had them refitted so that we could paint them as well. As for the dining room stairs and landing – it was more of the same, finishing the plastering on the Thursday and leaving it 3 days to dry thoroughly.

Putting up the new coving and new skirting on the Monday followed by all the painting of the ceiling walls and woodwork in the same colours as the front room. We were on this job for just over 3 weeks and the customer was very happy she picked us over the other quotation she had.
